One of the items on my "things-to-do" list was to open a children's museum in this country. Okay, so it wasn't a realistic goal but I was glad to find out today that British Petroleum (BP) beat me to the punch. Thanks to BP ... I can move on to the other items on my list (like fold the laundry and make dinner). ;)Our friend is the head presenter at the Energy Centre and he gave our kids a fantastic tour ... it was mainly focused on the oil & gas industry in this country but it was also an overall excellent scientific experience.
A RECAP OF OUR DAY
BP sent a nice bus to comfortably accommodate all 26 of us.
During the 50-minute ride, a video was shown about the historical background of the oil industry in this country.
A happy foursome in the back row.
The interactive displays & exhibits were a hit with kids and adults alike.
Annalise looks on as the older kids interact with an exhibit.
This "vortex separator" was our girls' favorite exhibit. Moriah repeatedly pushed the button that shows how they separate dirt & sediment from the oil.
This interactive "Energy in Your Life" display showed the kids how to save energy in our homes.
Sweet Annalise (in red, middle) volunteered when the presenter needed help in showing us how certain molecules worked.
After the bubble/molecule presentation, the presenter allowed the kids to make their own bubbles. Verity (middle) gave it a shot ...
...and I managed to make a decent-sized bubble. =)
The Centre set-up tables where the kids made "balloon cars" and then cleared them away so they could race them.
