And we're not even Irish

...but we sure did celebrate St. Patrick's Day in a BIG way by welcoming an Anatolian Shepherd dog into our family!

Welcome CHINGU WILLIAMS!!!"Chingu" is the Korean word for "friend."

We love the name Chingu as we expect him to become a great friend to us but I'm also relieved the girls' initial name offerings of "Sparkleworks" or "Rainbo
w Dash" (all My Little Pony names) didn't win. ;) Especially for a boy puppy.

I'm so glad that David gets to continue his childhood love of do
gs (this is his 5th dog).

I'm so glad that I get a guard dog ... a huge relief since we will soon move up "to the hill." I will love having Chingu (when grown) guarding our home when David is out of town.

And I'm so glad the girls get a new friend. All three of the girls are in love with Chingu.

The Backstory
A man near our home travels often to the outlying villages to buy sheep and turkeys to sell back in town. David spent the last few weeks asking around at pet stores about puppies when he finally found out from this sheep/turkey guy that one of his Anatolian shepherd dogs out in the village was having puppies! We were thrilled to find out that Anatolian shepherd dog (historically from Anatolia, Turkey) are instinctively excellent guard dogs.

The Homecoming
This last set of photos needs no explanations.
Just a trio of giddy girls bonding with their new friend, Chingu ...

WOW!! Congrats! I know that we are in the throes of simultaneously LOVING our new puppy and being overwhelmed by it! They certainly have a lot of energy, and the whole housebreaking issue was a bit more work than I imagined. We're through that, but he still seems to get into EVERYTHING!!! It is, in some ways, just like having a new baby!! Still, we are loving the experience and very attached to our new family member, and hope you will enjoy yours every bit as much.

Keep us in the loop!
Sara
