The Long Journey

So ... how does one survive a 38-hour journey (2 hours of it in a car, 19 hours on airplanes and 17 hours in 3 different airports) with 3 young children in tow?

Lots of prayer ... lots of patience & laughter ... and lots of backpacks (see photo) filled with treats, books and lollipops!

Like we mentioned in an earlier post, one of God's gifts to us is helping our daughters become killer travelers. They are pros. Even 2-year old Moriah starts removing her shoes as soon as we enter the security checkpoint. And to this date (despite the long trips we take), we haven't allowed them to watch DVDs while we travel ... we wanted them instead to learn how to entertain themselves with what they already have (sisters, books, crayons, etc).

The first video shows the girls jabbering it up in New York's JFK airport. They're excited about flying to London because "the queen is there." But the thing they were most excited about was coming back "home" ... Annalise squealed the entire way, "I am so excited to go back!" And Verity wondered, "I wonder if my friends in [our city] think about me. Because I sure do miss them." I'm so thankful our girls enjoy where they live!

The second video shows how we passed the time in London at Heathrow: sleeping!!! And before anybody says, "Eew, how could you let one of your kids sleep on the ground?" ... keep in mind we had an 11-hour layover in the airport. In one spot. Guarding 11 pieces of baggage. After already having flown 12 hours. And after waking up at 4:30am to make it to LAX.
