May Days

Having just moved, the month of May was consumed with unpacking boxes and tackling numerous house projects. So here are a few of our non-house-related highlights ...

MOTHER'S DAY
David surprised me for Mother's Day by planning a fun afternoon on our boa
rdwalk. Being a mother to our three daughters is such an honor. The fact that God has entrusted them specifically to David and me is not taken lightly. I am also beyond grateful for the mothers that David and I have been blessed with: Happy Mother's Day to Nancy Williams and Holly Lee!

LEYLA'S WEDDING
One of my first friends here, Leyla, got married this month. Attending a local wedding is always a fun affair - the food, the dancing, the loud (!!) music ...

The happy couple pulls in to the wedding hall in time for their grand entrance.

I learned my lesson at my first local wedding: wear clothing with "a little give" because the food comes non-stop!
I may never perfect the local dance moves but I get points for effort.
One of my favorite aspects of a local wedding comes at the end: presentation of the flaming plov (a traditional dish of rice and meat).

BEACH DAY
For reasons I can only share in-person, this day at the beach with our friends tops my list of "favorite days" in this country! From beginning to end, it was such a special day spent with friends.

The girls enjoyed splashing around in the Caspian Sea. If the water looks a bit murky to you, it was. I might have noticed all the pollution as a parent but I love the carefree nature of children: they played to their heart's content, enjoying God's creation to the fullest!

Our Weber grill (a housewarming gift from David's parents) came in handy as we grilled hot dogs for our large crew.
I asked for a Zoolander pose ...
