A Valentine's Day to Remember

I really wanted to be in the U.S. on Valentine's Day.

Not that I didn't have a FABULOUS dinner with my Valentine here ... David and I were both craving Korean food again and tried out a new Korean restaurant in town. GREAT MEAL!

But ... my heart was partially back in California with my family for 2 main reasons. My father was turning 60 on February 14th (and the 60th birthday is a HUGE deal in the Korean culture) and my family was celebrating the one-year anniversary of my aunt's Homegoing.

I was heartbroken to miss both.

My brother, Jake, was sweet to send me a few photos of my Dad's birthday dinner. They celebrated on the 13th because he was presiding over the one-year anniversary at my aunt's gravesite on the 14th. He's shown here opening presents and looking through the Shutterfly tribute album I made for him.

In honor of his 60th birthday, here are some of my favorite photos of (or with) my dad! I have always loved this photo below of my dad as a teenager. He just looks ... cool.
And check out this sweet couple on their honeymoon! I have great parents!!!

Baby Jenni looking up to her dad. =) My dad sacrificed so much for his kids. He always went without his luxuries so that my brother and I could enjoy our own "luxuries" growing up. I think his love language is "acts of service" because he was always going out of his way to serve and bless us. For example, whenever I would head out for a long drive, my dad always woke up early to check the car and fill my gas tank. His giving and generous spirit truly inspire me.
I will always remember how proud (and nervous) my dad was when he had to escort me during the Homecoming Court presentation at halftime.
And he was a proud Bruin, too! I had so much fun with my dad and brother at the UCLA football game for Chi Omega's Dad's Day. He always supported me in everything I did!
He couldn't have been happier welcoming me back from my summer in Kyrgyzstan. He proudly waved this sign as he ran towards me at the gate (LAX).
As father-of-the-bride, he was torn. He adored David and loves his son-in-law but it was a hard day of letting go.

I love watching our girls play with their "Haraboji." He is an amazing grandfather. Happy 60th Birthday, Dad! We love and miss you so much!
