Our 1st National Wedding

What a treat. David & I finally had the pleasure of being guests at our first national wedding. Take a look ...

When we arrived at our table, it was already laden with appetizers, salads and drinks. We feasted like kings and queens all evening. The flow of food never stopped. It seemed like there were as many waiters as there were guests ... Click here to watch a short clip of the bride & groom entering the wedding hall amidst "fireworks."

We were invited by our language tutor (shown above) who was the mother of the groom. Isn't she darling? She has become a special friend and has been a wonderful tutor. You can click here to watch her and a few guests dancing to national music.

The happy bride & groom danced to both traditional, national music as well as popular, modern music. They are shown here dancing to national music. Please click here for a short clip of them dancing with "fireworks" and fog. It shows a bit of the couple ... pans to our table ... and ends with David looking on.

We had a great time enjoying the wedding with some of our good friends here. Here we are posing with the newlyweds at their head table.

This national dancer appeared twice ... the first time to present new jewelry to the couple and again at the end of the evening to present the plov (a national rice dish). I later found out from a local friend that she is a famous dancer in this country.

Yummy ... the flaming plov! They made a BIG deal about presenting this rice dish at the end of the evening. I had been craving plov all week and was so excited to fill my plate with it when it arrived. But a fun song came on and I got up to dance. Big mistake ... when I returned, the waiter had already cleared my plate.

A close-up of the plov on the table. Meat was added later. This is one of my favorite clips: click here to watch the torch-lined presentation of the plov.

Check it out ... nine wedding cakes!

I am so excited that we got to experience our first national wedding. You can click here for more photos from this wedding (best when you click on "view as a slideshow"). Also, if you missed any of the above wedding clips, here they are again ... click on any of the titles below.
