Laughing into his 40's

A night of good friends, good food and good music. [Well, two out of three is not bad. The background music was an 80's "greatest hits" CD ... you know, songs that were popular when David was in high school and I was, maybe ... 8.] David's birthday party this weekend (shared with a friend who was turning 30) was a great way to celebrate his 40th.

Watching David turn 40 has been a joy for me. I hope I can turn 40 with as much grace, joy and contentment as he did. He looks back on his life so far and has no regrets, can celebrate God's faithfulness to him and feels hope and excitement about the future!

Our digital camera decided not to take any clear photos that night (or am I just a horrible photographer?) The above photos are just some of the few that weren't blurry. The gift on the left needs no explanation (as many of you know we are huge fans of "The Office.") A friend who visited New York this summer snagged this from the NBC store for David. And we're thrilled with the beautiful rug David received on the right that is now gracing our hallway.

A definite highlight was laughing at Brian Regan's act. I laughed so hard that it felt like I did crunches all night. (Maybe this will be my new way of getting my pre-pregnancy body back ... forget real sit-ups, just pop in a Brian Regan DVD!)

Below is a short tribute video I showed during the party. You can also just click here to watch it directly on youtube.com.

PS Happy Anniversary to my wonderful parents, Peter & Holly! They celebrated their 33rd on October 19th ... and because my mom is in Korea right now for work, my dad is flying out tomorrow to meet up with her in Seoul to celebrate their anniversary. Too cute.
