Warning: A Lopsided Blog
This blog is our "all play, no work" website because we have to limit this blog to personal/family updates only and will continue to send work-related news via our snail mail letter. Also, to check the current time in our city, please scroll down to our time stamp at the bottom of this page.
Out and About
There are so many cool sights here in town but since we can't post the more obvious landmarks here on our blog, try using Google to check out our city! In the meantime, here are a few discreet outdoor shots.
We definitely try NOT to draw attention to ourselves when we're out as a family ... but with 3 girls stuffed into a double stroller, that's a tall order! The people here absolutely love kids and we get so much attention on the streets when they are with us, especially when I carry Moriah around in the Baby Bjorn.
During one quiet Saturday morning, David took all of us girls out for lunch! We stopped for a photo opp at a part of the wall that surrounds the Old City.
We're so excited to do life here with Dan & Dina, David's friends from Kyrgyzstan, and their four kids. We had a pretty view of the sea from this rooftop restaurant when we had dinner with them last week.
Watermelons, anyone? On weekends, we see cars filled with produce pull into our courtyard ... it's nice to have the "farmer's market" come to us! During the weekdays, there is usually an older lady who sits in the corner of our courtyard selling some basic fruits and vegetables (apples, cucumbers, onions, tomatoes, etc), which makes it very convenient for me. Once when I needed just one more cucumber for a recipe, I asked David to run downstairs and he brought back the final, necessary cucumber in just a few minutes!
Our "Barnes and Noble" just a block from our apartment... this is where we bought a few dictionaries and a grammar book. I am still having trouble finding good reading material in English.
It's such a nice surprise to see David come through the door with a bouquet of flowers (what wife doesn't LOVE that?) This is the stand where he purchases my treats!
