It's "Rocktober" (David's birthday month) and he has kicked it off with one of his favorite hobbies. He is on a 3-day camping trip this weekend with some of his friends at a campsite 5 hours away! He said the scenery en route reminded him a bit of Kyrgyzstan. That means the four of us gals are on our own this weekend!
I miss him already and I know the girls will miss him, too. One of my favorite things in life is to watch the daddy-daughter bond grow between David and our girls. This week, Verity looked pensive and asked me, "Daddy is your favorite man, right? I can't marry him because you already married him. [pause] I'll just have to find my own favorite man." Trust me, Verity ... your daddy and I have long been praying for our future son-in-laws!!
Until then, Daddy is apparently the prince! When David walked into the room wearing a new blazer his parents had just shipped over to us, Verity sighed and said, "Oh daddy, you look like a handsome prince!" You can't beat that!
And of course, Annalise and Moriah light up, too, when David comes home! Speaking of Moriah, she is now officially a crawler!! Check out her celebratory smile! It's so sweet to watch her big sisters cheer her on ... especially Annalise as she claps, "Mo-RI-ah, Mo-RI-ah...come on, come on!"
We spent our first night without David eating beef pot roast (I can't tell you how grateful I am that we packed a crock pot), playing a extra long session of hide-and-seek (with Annalise's cute counting "1,2,4,6,8,9, x and y..." as she watches to see where you hide) and then bedtime with My First Little House books. Verity especially loves pointing out how she is Mary, Annalise is Laura and Moriah is Carrie.
And thankfully, we won't be shut-in the entire weekend because our friend, Stacy, graciously invited us over (believe me, it takes a lot of motivation to try to leave the house alone with the girls so I'm grateful for her invite!) This is what I have to tell the taxi driver tomorrow morning ... "Pass the 2-story restaurant, turn right at the barber, left at the yellow checkerboard apartment building and right at the fruit stand." I think we'll make it.

So great to see your girls, and hopefully hubby has a fun time on his camping trip. Know you miss him, but glad you have an invitation tomorrow to go out. We are all praying for, especially the bouts with homesickness. You are such a blessing to us.
